Where Can I Serve?

Jesus told us, his disciples, to make disciples of all nations. One of the most important values of this church is our mission to the world. It begins in our own community, and spreads overseas to every nation. Church members are involved in a variety of ministries from things as simple as mowing the church grounds, to preparing the church bulletins.

Delphi UMC is thrilled to be part of the spread of God’s kingdom around the world. We are active in sending missionaries and supporting these missionaries with our money and with our prayers.  Every other year a team from our church travels to Jamaica to assist the missionaries in practical projects and evangelistic outreach. We encourage all of our people to respond to God’s call for laborers, whether it means that they move to a foreign country or live and minister in our own community.  We have sent mission teams to South Dakota, northern Indiana, and southwestern Kentucky.  Through sending a missions team and ongoing monetary support, we have partnered with a local congregation in Liberia, West Africa, to support the building of a school and to support other ministries that they envision.

We believe every place is our mission field, and especially in our own back yard.  We support and lead several mission ministries in our county.  Some of them include:  Buddy Bags, Mobile Food Pantries, Kids Hope USA, SAWS Ministry, and building beds for children in need.
Music & Media/Technology
God-honoring worship is something we strive for here at Delphi UMC. Church members are involved in our music and drama ministry by playing instruments, singing on the Praise Team or in the choir.
Using media to spread the gospel is a privilege of this church. In an age of widespread technology, we have a stewardship to use these tools as best as possible for kingdom purposes. Our weekly sermons are uploaded to our website in video and audio formats. We also maintain an active Facebook and Twitter feed for additional church communication.
All of these areas are an important part of the ministry of our church, and rely on our volunteers using their talents and gifts to glorify God.  If you are interested in getting involved in one of these ministries, please call the church office!

Hospitality Team (Ushers and Greeters)

The Hospitality Team at our church fills an important role. They are the first impression to those entering our church.  They are also involved in directing attendees to their seats, ensuring the safety of the building during services, guiding traffic, helping visitors, answering questions, providing direction, and generally ensuring that the service can proceed problem-free. The Hospitality Team is a servant-hearted group of men and women whose ministry is integral to church life.  Feel free to email ">Sarah Cross if you are interested in helping in these areas.

Landscape Ministry

We rely on volunteers to keep up with the maintenance of our church grounds.  Duties vary from mowing, weeding, planting flowers/trees, mulching, etc.  We have a great team of dedicated people to help with this.  If you are interested in helping with this ministry, call the church office (765/564-3791) and we will get you in contact with the Trustee in charge!

Marriage Counseling

Marriages can be difficult to maintain. Misunderstanding, confusion, resentment, and anger can flare up in any marriage. Several couples at our church serve other families as marriage counselors. Their role in listening, understanding, helping, and encouraging struggling couples has, by God’s grace, saved marriages, and repaired relationships. Couples have found fresh hope and new joy in a warm and fulfilling relationship with their spouse.

Prayer Warriors

Prayer cannot be overestimated. Prayer moves the hand of God. Our Church is a body of believers dependent upon prayer, and committed to God’s sovereignty. Each Sunday, during the morning service, a team of volunteers is praying for our services. Throughout the week, volunteers from our Prayer Warriors team pray for their pastor, a list of church members, any special requests, and missionary prayer needs.
