Mommy Reboot

This past weekend I, Sarah, was privileged to attend (with 6 girlfriends) the 2015 Hearts at Home conference in Normal, IL. Jill Savage founded Hearts at Home 22 years ago with a mission to encourage, educate, and equip moms to strengthen families using Christian values. This was my 3rd year in attendance and each year has gotten better and better! This year’s keynote speakers were Lysa TerKeurst (president of Proverbs 31 Ministries and bestselling author) and Dr. Gary Chapman (director of Marriage and Family Life Consultants, Inc. and bestselling author).

20150313_074303-1I am truly amazed each year as I am surrounded by over 5,000 women, 20 plus speakers, and workshops galore all coming together for one goal: to better ourselves as wives, mothers, and daughters of Christ. While this is a fun weekend getaway with girlfriends, it is also a time to recharge, refuel, and reboot. To quote Jill Savage, “Taking care of yourself is taking care of your family.” While this is often hard for mommies to do, over the years I have realized this is a MUST.

So, for this one weekend each year, I throw away any notion of “mommy guilt,” leave my children in the capable hands of my husband, and focus on MYSELF so that in the end I can take better care of my family. I encourage every mom in every stage of motherhood to check out Hearts at Home!

February Words Update

Have you noticed anything new in the Worship Center lately?  Any additional words? side wall right If you have been to one of our services recently, you can’t help but notice the MANY names of God placed on the angled walls in the front of the Worship Center.  Some of the names you are probably already familiar with, but if you look closely you might learn a new way to reference Him.  When was the last time you prayed to your Everlasting Father?  Have you ever declared God as your Comforter or Shepherd?  How wonderful it is to think of Him as the Prince of Peace, the Bread of Life, and the King of Kings!  He truly is the Light of the World and we want to bring glory and honor to Him.  Our hope is that you find new ways to not only reference our Savior, but that these various names aid you in testifying and expressing to others the love of Jesus Christ.
