Local Missions
Delphi Food Pantry: The food pantry assists those in the community who need supplemental food. Delphi United Methodist collects food for donation to the pantry on the first Sunday of every month. The food pantry operates on donations and volunteer support.
Habitat for Humanity: Habitat for Humanity International is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry. HFHI seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world, and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. The Carroll County chapter of Habitat works to provideadequate housing for low income families in Carroll County. For more information visit: www.habitat.org
Release Time for Delphi Community: This program provides an opporunity for elementary students to receive off-site Christian education once a week during the regular school day. The program is completely voluntary. Students are not required to participate, however a large percentage chose to do so.
Jamaica
Delphi United Methodist works with Christian Service International to organize mission trips to Jamaica. A work team of 40-50 people spend a week in the poverty stricken mountains of Jamaica building houses, ministering to the families and orphanages, and various other construction and special project work. With each trip, team members share the love of Christ by first trying to fulfill immediate physical needs and then ministering to the spiritual needs.
Our church has a close connection with Jamaical. Not only have we sent several teams into mission service to the Jamaicans, but local church members, Mike and Teresa Isley followed the call of God into full-time missions work in Jamaica. The Isley family, currently on administrative leave in the states, moved to Jamaica and served two and a half years in full-time ministry. They plan to return at the end of their leave and share the love of Christ with the Jamaican people.
Jamaica is a land where incredible beauty and the harsh reality of life walk hand in hand.
Support is also given to missionaries in countries such as India, Ghana, Israel, and Kazakhstan.
